Dream

I had my first dream with mom in it last night.  It was nothing big, just hanging out with her at the farm!  Was a wonderful dream!
Here are some pictures I took of Ruth this week while Robert was at church camp.
Our first attempt at horse cutting
 I'm not always smiling!
I broke down and put a flower in her hair.  It was painful to admit, but it's sorta cute.

Mom's wisdom

Mom sent me this quote when I was in seminary.  I think it speaks to who she was pretty clearly.  She couldn't remember where she found it.

"A gracious person is a person who lives simply, but loves generously - serves faithfully, speaks truthfully, prays daily and leaves everything else to God."

Amen, Momma!

Poem from Kate

Flannery's Angel

by Charles Wright

Lead us to those we are waiting for,
Those who are waiting for us.
May your wings protect us
may we not be strangers in the lush province of joy.

Remember us who are weak,
You who are strong in your country which lies beyond the thunder,
Raphael, angel of happy meeting,

resplendent, hawk of the light.

Baby Dedication

Ruth looking very wise
Ruth chillin
After the baby dedication we had lunch.  These are Ruth's aunts...Hannah in the pink is Ruth's God Aunt, Kaylen in the blue is Ruth's Jesus Aunt, and Natalie in the black is Ruth's Holy Spirit Aunt.  These are our minister's daughters.  We love them and they love Ruth!
Good looking group if I do say so myself!  We just need little (not so much at 7 years now!) Nicholas.
Ruth was very happy.
Thanks for the cute dress Aunt Kim!!!

Oliver Quotes from Thursday night

When I (Lisa) handed Oliver an apple w/ peanut butter…”I’d forgotten how good this is!!!”!!!

After Oliver fell off of the scooter and scraped his knee (babysitter of the year!):  “Wow this really hurts…I think your concrete is harder than ours”!

After Jack tells a joke and we all start laughing, Oliver says, while laughing:  “Why is this so funny?”!!!

She's growing up too fast!!

Today I wish mom was around to tell me all the things I WANT (not need) to do are a good idea, like eating ice cream or buying new cowgirl boots!!

Heart Healthy Cooking

Hey!
Aunt Jean thought it would be a good idea to start a heart healthy cookbook.  Aunt Tracey suggested we check out this cookbook.  http://www.amazon.com/WomenHearts-All-Heart-Family-Cookbook/dp/1594867968
Maybe we could start posting our fav. recipes!!

ps.  I'll figure out how to allow others to post other than in the comments.

R.E.M Therapy

This is one of my all time favorite songs, and it pretty much summarizes my feelings.  There are a number of ways to look at this song, but for me  -- right now -- it feels like Nancy talking to me -- and my response throughout is "Nothing is going my way" and "there's no one left to take the lead" -- the rest of the words are her's -- then, in the end I'm comforted by her telling me that "all of this is coming your way" (the important things in life).  The performance (click on link) is beautiful -- and the lyrics are below here:

"Find The RIver", R.E.M.

Hey now, little speedyhead,
The read on the speedmeter says
You have to go to task in the city
Where people drown and people serve
Don't be shy. Your just deserve
Is only just light years to go

Me, my thoughts are flower strewn
Ocean storm, bayberry moon
I have got to leave to find my way
Watch the road and memorize
This life that pass before my eyes
Nothing is going my way

The ocean is the river's goal,
A need to leave the water knows
We're closer now than light years to go

I have got to find the river,
Bergamot and vetiver
Run through my head and fall away
Leave the road and memorize
This life that pass before my eyes
Nothing is going my way

There's no one left to take the lead,
But I tell you and you can see
We're closer now than light years to go
Pick up here and chase the ride
The river empties to the tide
Fall into the ocean

The river to the ocean goes,
A fortune for the undertow
None of this is going my way
There is nothing left to throw
Of Ginger, lemon, indigo,
Coriander stem and rose of hay
Strength and courage overrides
The privileged and weary eyes
Of river poet search naivete
Pick up here and chase the ride
The river empties to the tide
All of this is coming your way

To reconnect

Origionally I thought blogs were a little egoistic, but I am going to suggest this blog is a way for all of us to stay connected.
It's basically a little update of things going on in the Goodrich household, but please feel free to leave comments or whatevah!
Love ya'll!!!
